Smart-Label™ 
The Intelligent Label System
 

Smart-Label™ is a comprehensive and intelligent labeling system which automatically reads formulae and applies the rules of the prevailing legislation to dynamically create up-to-date and accurate labels, with the minimum of fuss. 

The program recognizes premixes, concentrates or raw material blends contained within a formula and cross-references the relevant formula for that component, works out and declares the complete ingredient composition at the correct levels.

  • Smart Label™ incorporates a Message Library, in which is stored all categories of standard messages and warnings. These messages are automatically triggered by the presence of particular raw materials; for example the inclusion of feed additives and growth promoters in a formula will automatically trigger the appearance of the appropriate message on the label.

  • The level of inclusion of a raw material will trigger the appropriate declaration statement.

  • The program incorporates a special Drug Warning library, which stores permitted medicinal additives and additive combinations. These texts are triggered by the presence of active drug nutrients, and they in turn trigger further appropriate messages on to the label, for feeding instructions, medicines statements, warnings and product purpose directives.

  • Smart Label™ uses standard label templates or worksheets which minimize the set-up time for new products and the maintenance of data for existing products.

  • It automatically draws the correct declared nutrient analysis from any of the following sources:

           » the actual formulated level

           » the chosen declared level, version by version,  as stored in the    Recipe Archive™

       » the minimum or maximum level specified in the plant or in the Central database

  • Smart Label™ is able to scale nutrient analyses by factors, to declare the composition in different units from those in which they are formulated for example, grams per kilogram, instead of percentage.

  • Smart Label™  declares the ingredient content of a formula either as individual raw materials or categorized into groups and presented with or without the inclusion level. The ingredient composition is normally given in decreasing order of inclusion rate, but it is also possible to specify ascending order or alphabetical order.

  • Smart Label™ is able to automatically combine multiple raw materials of the same origin (e.g. different types of sunflower) for the purpose of declaring ingredients or categories, and it excludes specified materials which are exempt for declaration purposes.

 

  

Smart-Label™ features

  • Smart Label™ may be used to print labels in more than one language, even when using a single or common source formula file.
  • Label size is user defined and variable printer character sizes may be used.
  • Smart Label™ allows flexible levels of privileges and access; for example it will allow printing but not editing of labels by production staff.

Other features which may be automatically included are:

  • Sequence numbers
  • Product name
  • Product code and Version number if appropriate
  • Best before date, automatically corrected to the nearest date if additives are included which reduce shelf life
  • Manufactured date
  • Withdrawal dates, corrected to the longest date if multiple additives are present, and Veterinary instruction/reference codes
  • Additives matched to product type, so that the correct message appears even when the same additive is used across different species
  • Text messages such as feeding directions or storage recommendations
  • Manufacturer’s name and address
  • Customer name and address
  • Up to 5 additional medicine or medicine-combinations may be added at the time of printing labels
  • An Rchive™ Option (sub-component) may be added at the time of printing
